You see this man? Let me tell you a little something about this man. His name is Andrew Dennis Biersack and is the lead singer of a band called Black Veil Brides. He is also thousands of people’s hero, gorgeous inside and out, and an inspiration to many.
Sadly he is also downed a lot as well. Why? Because his band wore face paint, and make-up to honor their idols KISS. Due to this fact they were immediately labeled “emo fags” and were hated on for no reason other than the fact they wore face paint.
Did I mention people call their music satanic? Yeah because a song about never giving in and always fighting to be you, or a song about how it is okay to feel sad and dejected; that you don’t always have to be strong like society pushes is okay, is totally satanic.
But let me tell you something. Did any of that stop people from liking them? Did it stop fans from wearing the same make-up? Did it stop him, or any other members of the band, from doing it? No. They continued to do so, and told the haters to fuck off.
Now, the thing about Andy is that he is wise beyond his years, and speaks the truth and through that inspires people to be themselves, and not be afraid of society. In fact he has basically told society to fuck itself time and time again. Though he is a badass in that sense, he is also the sweetest guy. He will stand up for his fans — in fact he respects them — as if they were his own friends or family when he doesn’t even know them.
He knows how much shit most fans go through for liking his band, and he respects them coming out on top. When he sees a fan that cuts he is genuinely sad for them and concerned. He believes no one should do that and that each person, no matter size, height, gender, orientation, anything, is special and should never do that. He cares. Something that isn’t seen much, nor is it seen the way he defends his fans with a passion as he does. And he does the same for his friends as well.
You know Bryan Stars? Well Andy has become good friends with the YouTuber and when someone made him dejected in an interview Andy didn’t put up with it. He called out said person but with class, so it didn’t start drama.
Want to know what baffles me the most about this man? He doesn’t see himself like me, or thousands of others, do. When nominated for “Best looking male singer” awards (or similar titles) he is truly baffled at why anyone would think that. He says he is like a female deer and doesn’t see how anyone can see him as handsome. Thing is, Andy is handsome on the inside and out and that shows with each passing day.
Hate him, or don’t acknowledge him — that’s fine with him. Love him, and he will fight for you like there is no tomorrow. This man is one of my idols, and I truly look to him for inspiration. So many people could benefit from him but no one will give him a chance.
It saddens me to know this but it’s okay. We have Andy and Andy has us. That’s all we need.
Let me tell you something about these four men right here. Not only are they thousands (possibly millions) of people’s heroes, but they are the most genuine celebrities out there, and sadly one of the most underrated.
They care so much for their fans and will do whatever they can for them. Take pictures, pray, try to make TT’s to help them, even do something as simple as tweet a fan who needs it. They will do things without being told, and not for money or publicity but for the simple fact that they can and they care. They don’t see their fans as fans, they see them as friends.
They don’t feed into the drama, or the hate, and even when needed (like good friends do) will tell you when you are being a bit ridiculous (and with some of the directioners/rushers wars there have been they had every right to say so). They are truly honored for every award they are nominated for and don’t spam their followers on twitter to vote for them. If they lose (which sadly is a lot) they take it in stride and genuinely thank everyone for being there for them. Hell, they have even said repeatedly that they don’t need awards because they have fans.
And they don’t say that because they haven’t won many.
Thing that gets me about these four men, besides they are not known as much as they should, is I don’t think they fully get how incredible they really are. They don’t see themselves as attractive (in fact whenever they are up for polls and awards and such they say to whoever nominated them that they are silly), and I don’t think they see themselves as heroes. I think they just see themselves as four guys who are living their dream.
I haven’t met these wondrous people in person, but I do plan to. I can tell you all this from their interviews, tweets, vines, and just general interaction with fans. They are genuine, handsome (inside and out!), and just great guys.
Too many look down upon them for being a “Nickelodeon boy band”, and yes Nickelodeon started their career but you know what? That doesn’t define them. Their actions do, and they are a hell of a group of people. I aspire to be like them one day, and maybe one day I will be.
My point in all this is that you shouldn’t judge these great men because of where they started. You shouldn’t judge them period. You should get to know them, and then maybe you’ll see how great they really are — even if they don’t see it themselves.
